SCHOLARSHIP

CLUB SCHOLARSHIP

The purpose of this scholarship is to assist eligible candidates with the continuation of formal education. Formal education applies to any school and/or college with curriculum, whether it is undergraduate, post-graduate or occupational school. Leisure learning courses are not considered a continuation of formal education. Consideration will be given to; graduating high school seniors wishing to attend a qualified higher learning institution, current undergraduates, graduate students and students enrolled in occupational schools.


Requirements

  • Complete submission of scholarship application, essay and two recommendation letters in a 9.5” x 12.5” envelope via Certified Mail
  • Graduating high school seniors mush have an overall GPA (grade point average) at least a 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
  • College undergraduate students must have an overall GPA of at least 2.5
  • Graduate students must have an undergraduate GPA of 2.5 overall and at least a 2.5 in all graduate work
  • Occupational school students must have a scholastic standing in the top half of the class or what equates to a GPA of 2.5.

Applications for the upcoming year can be accessed beginning October 1st and must be complete and submitted along with two official recommendation letters to the scholarship administrator by April 30th,or they will not be considered.  Any envelopes showing a post-date after the deadline date will not be considered. Applications from previous years will not be considered. A new application must be submitted for each year.


Scholarship Essay Requirement

The essay is an essential part of the Chicago Cross Roads Corvette Club (CCCC) scholarship application. It helps us to become acquainted with the recipient in ways other than courses, grades and test scores. The essay must be 300 to 500 typed words, double spaced with one inch left and right margins. Application is available on our website and must be post marked no later than April 30th of the award year.

Please select one of the following essay topics:

  • Discuss an issue of personal, local, national or international concern and its importance to you.
  • Select a person of significant influence to you and describe that influence.
  • Share a significant experience, achievement or risk you have taken or ethical dilemma you have faced and its impact on you.
  • Describe a character in fiction, a historical figure or creative work (as in art, music, science, etc.) that has had an influence on you, and explain that influence.

Administration


October: Scholarship application available to interested parties on the CCCC website.


January:

CCCC President will appoint a three-person committee and one committee head, to accept and review applications. CCCC Secretary will maintain a copy of all application for administrative purposes and submission to the Newsletter Editor.


April:

Scholarship application and pertinent information deadline is April 30th.


May - June: 

Scholarship committee will review applications and present final recommendations to the CCCC Board of Directors at monthly board meeting for their final approval. The Board may request completed applications for their review.  Scholarship funds will be divided equally among recipients as determined by the Board.


July:

Scholarship recipients will be notified and names will be posted on CCCC website. Scholarship recipients will be acknowledged at the annual Scholarship car show in July. The recipients’ attendance at the car show is preferred.


August:    

Scholarship recipients will be contacted by a CCCC Chairperson or Secretary to verify the university/ college the recipient will attend in the fall. After receiving verification with a student ID number, a check will be mailed directly to the recipient’s school of choice in the amount awarded by the CCCC scholarship committee the second week of September.
